Visit the Mugello: oasis of nature near Florence and Pistoia

The Mugello: a valley north of Florence rich in green

Tuscany is a unique place in the world where you can discover the most diverse landscapes, customs and traditions, all concentrated in a rather small area, and therefore easy to explore.
The Mugello, for example, is a valley north of Florence rich in green: from thick woods to chestnut and olive areas, to flat areas cultivated with wheat and sunflowers, where small and characteristic hamlets that have maintained their appearance and emerge here. original.
The whole area has remained practically intact and far from mass tourism, which is why it offers authentic Tuscany.
You can meet timeless places like Scarperia, famous for the production of taglaving irons, and Dicomano, Vicchio that has given birth to artists such as Giotto and Beato Angelico, or Barberino where the lake of Bilancino offers a splendid variation on the surrounding landscape (between the other is bathing and with a very nice equipped beach), or where you can visit the Medici Villa of Cafaggiolo.

But Mugello offers much more: it is a land with old and new sports traditions; from the very famous autodrome that hosts the GP motorbike every year, to the trekking routes up to the new bike routes. The presence of the Mugello cycling district in bike, the "Card del Cicloturismo", the countless paths that can be downloaded from GPS is possible to experience the area all year round with the support of technology.

Like every respectable place in Tuscany, mugello boasts its culinary traditions, which must be discovered! So you can not miss a lunch with potato tortelli, made with homemade pasta, fresh cheeses, roast game and many dishes prepared with chestnuts, certainly the most typical product of Mugello, celebrated in October with various events, including the Chestnut Festival of Marradi.

Due to its proximity to Florence and Pistoia, the Mugello lends itself to be easily reached from our bed and breakfast in just over an hour's drive, following the A11 motorway and then the E76 expressway. Our advice then? A nice sleep in one of our features and quiet rooms, an energetic breakfast and then ... departure!
