Buggiano Castello: a panoramic window on the Valdinievole

A few steps from our B&B La Piana, and reachable with a pleasant walk, is the ancient village of Buggiano Castello, born on a hill in a very strategic position from which it was possible to control the entire territory that extends from Florence to Lucca.

As good “buggianesi” we boast of our town for the beautiful scenery and artistic, as well as being the oldest of all the Valdinievole, as evidenced by evidence of municipal autonomy as early as 1191.
Like all Tuscan villages that respect each other, in Buggiano you can access from various entrances well defined by the characteristic "Doors": Porta San Martino, recently restored thanks to the contribution of the Associazione Culturale Buggiano Castello, and Porta Sermolli.
Walking through the ancient and narrow stone streets (where you will meet only some cars of the residents) you will come across alleys that seem almost secret passages and views as unexpected as suggestive as when, around the corner, you arrive in the characteristic Piazza Pretorio, symbol and essence of the place.

In short, it is worth taking a walk and getting lost in the alleys of Buggiano to find landscapes and landscapes that will not disappoint you!
